Death of an Empire
(It all falls down, I can hear Lauryn singing...
It all falls down, Kanye had us thinking...)
We all dying, yeah, it’s true,
This empire fallin’…me and you.
Cracking.
Splitting.
Rotting through.
History folding.
Pages burning.
The end of an era…watch it turning.
American dream? A mirage.
A lie.
A story they told to keep us blind.
Like Rome. Like kings. Like all before.
Empires rise—
Then they hit the floor.
We here for the unraveling.
The slow decay.
The reckoning.
And just like them, one day it’s true—
We won’t be here.
Just passing through.
But it’s always been the ones who feel.
The ones who love.
The ones who heal.
The ones with fire, with hearts that burn,
Who take what’s gone and make it turn.
(It all falls down, I can hear Lauryn singing...
It all falls down, Kanye had us thinking...)
They gave what they ain’t never had.
Turned their lack into a path.
Laid their hearts inside the cracks.
Built the bridges. Made the tracks.
Since we dying anyway—
Why uphold?
Why obey?
Why repeat the same decay?
Dismantle.
Break.
Destroy.
Remake.
What’s true liberation mean?
It’s taking back what’s in-between.
It’s guarding joy.
It’s claiming soul.
It’s knowing YOU the one in control.
(It all falls down, I can hear Lauryn singing...
It all falls down, Kanye had us thinking...)
It’s knowing why you here to stand.
It’s seeing life with open hands.
It’s walking whole.
It’s showing up.
It’s drinking deep from freedom’s cup.
That’s all we got.
This breath. This space.
This fleeting time.
This sacred place.
Yet the more you learn, the more you see—
The veil.
The pain.
The misery.
A world that starves.
That turns away.
That fears reflection’s honest gaze.
A world where we don’t recognize,
That we are one.
Same blood.
Same ties.
How tragic that the mirror’s cracked.
How sad we can’t see our way back.
How lost we are, how much we miss—
When all we ever had was this.
(It all falls down, I can hear Lauryn singing...
It all falls down, Kanye had us thinking...)
